Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Learn about where your core beliefs about yourself and the world stem from, identify limiting beliefs that are holding you back from experiencing the present moment and what may be blocking you from connecting with others in your life.
What is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy?
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is an approach to therapy that focuses on how your thoughts and core beliefs are impacting the action you take and how you relate to your emotions that you experience. CBT is a widely recognized and effective treatment for a variety of mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, and self-worth.
How does Cognitive Behaviour Therapy Work?
In Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), counsellors will help you identify irrational beliefs, unhelpful thinking styles and patterns of negative thinking that are contributing to your stress in life. By becoming aware of what’s not helpful for yourself, you can start to examine evidence for and against these thoughts, challenging any cognitive distortions or irrational beliefs.
With the counsellors guidance, you can start to restructure your thoughts to integrate styles of thinking that are more helpful for you to live the life you want to live and to connect with others in a way that feels authentic. You’ll learn the skills to continually be able to evaluate your thoughts and beliefs to see if they are working for you or against you to then make any adjustments you may need.
CBT is typically a short-term therapy, but the duration can vary depending on individual needs and the complexity of the issues being addressed. The collaborative and practical nature of CBT empowers individuals to take an active role in their treatment and fosters lasting changes in how they think, feel, and act in their everyday lives.
