COUNSELLING FAQ's

A billable counselling hour is 50 minutes. This gives the practitioner 10 minutes for session notes and admin work.

My current rate is $135 per session plus GST for a 50 minute clinical counselling session. I believe every person deserves access to mental health support. For this reason I have reserved a limited number of spots for a sliding scale (reduced cost). Please reach out via the Book Now page to inquire about sliding scale session availability or possible wait list.

Yes. We offer Virtual Counselling sessions as an option if you are not located in the Vancouver area. In-Person Counselling sessions take place in the Vancouver area currently on Mondays and Wednesdays. Please check the online booking system to see availability.

All session notes are secured by 3 layers of protection digitally and in physical manner.

The Reflectere requires secure payment on file before completing any therapeutic work. This is done through completing the credit card authorization through the online booking system. You have the right to remove authorization to your credit card at any point in time. Your credit card information will be entered into the payment system, which is encrypted for your privacy.

After each session has occurred your card will be processed for the acquired services. It is your responsibility to ensure a secure form of payment is provided at all times. Invoices will be sent to the email provided by you through the booking application.

If you do not have a credit card, e-transfers are also an accepted form of payment.

Ultimately, it is entirely up to you how often you want to come. My professional suggestion would be to come weekly for the beginning stages of therapy to establish a strong therapeutic relationship and treatment goals. At this time it is important to maintain the momentum in our work together. If this does not meet your financial abilities, every two weeks will also be sufficient.

In our first session we can discuss a treatment plan that suits your financial and emotional needs. If you cannot come as regularly as you’d like I'd encourage you to still come- your mind and body will thank you later.

The first session is all about us getting to know each other and begin to build the foundational blocks of the therapeutic relationship, we will also go through an intake form together on the first session.

I do not do direct billing. Please submit your paid invoice to your insurance provider for reimbursement if you have the proper coverage.

Some extended benefits plans provide full or partial coverage for counselling services provided by a Registered Professional Counsellor. After each session, I will provide you with a receipt that you can submit to your extended health benefits provider. Contact your insurance company to find out if your plan covers the fees of a Registered Professional Counsellor from the CPCA (Canadian Professional Counsellors Association). This is often found under “Counselling” or “Clinical Counselling” sections of your extended benefits.

Yes. As a client you have the right to terminate the therapeutic relationship at any point and time. You are in full control of how often you come to counselling and when you’d like to take a break.

Cancellations and rescheduling must be done 48 hours prior to your appointment. If you cancel within 48 hours you will be charged the full amount of your session.

I have varying availability during the week for evenings for either in-person or virtual counselling sessions. If you are seeking weekend availability, I offer this on a varying basis, please reach out to inquire further if weekends are the only time option you currently have for counselling.

If you’re in an emergency, it is recommended that you seek medical attention at your local Emergency Department, call 9-1-1, or the crisis centre (310-6789).
